Self-Defense Classes
Everybody should know basic self-defense (and probably a bit more). It seems every day you hear, read or watch about someone becoming a victim of senseless violent act. Whether it’s a child being bullied and tormented at school, an Amber Alert, a female on a college campus, a couple out on a date or friends out having a good time, there is always the potential for something to go wrong. Taking a self-defense course or enrolling in classes can help prevent and change the outcome of these situations. At Wesley Chapel MMA we teach street self-defense that works for real life situations.
A lot of us know first-hand what it feels like to be picked on as a kid. In a nutshell it’s horrible and many times kids are too embarrassed to speak to a parent or an adult. The short and long term impacts can be potentially devastating. Our self-defense for kids builds confidence and gives them the tools to defend themselves, so they don’t have to be bullied. We teach kids how to control situations and techniques to:
- How to safely walk away from a situation
- How block punches
- Escaping headlocks & different chokes
- How to get someone off you if they have you mounted
- What to do if pressed up against a wall or locker
- What to do if grabbed or pulled
- How to defend against a knife attack
- What to do if an attacker has a gun
- If necessary, how to strike an opponent
Our self-defense teaches you how to defend attackers in a parking lot, college campuses, dorm rooms, bars and cars. Predators lurk everywhere and will wait for their opportunity to take advantage of a situation, it can be girl’s night out, a date that gets creepy or a party with too much alcohol and judgement is impaired. We teach women:
- How to defend themselves while on their back
- What to do if someone tries to inappropriately put their hands on you
- How to defend if you’re pulled or grabbed
- Self-defense against knife and gun
- How to defend against a larger person choking you
Our self-defense works against bigger people. If you’re out having a beer at bar, dancing at a club, at the gym working out or playing pickup basketball and a situation gets out of hand for any reason, you’ll have the skills to handle yourself and not get embarrassed. You’ll learn:
- How to slip and defend against punches
- Techniques to take a larger person to the ground
- Standing chokes and other submissions
- Gun and knife self-defense
- Escaping mount
- How to strike with hands, elbows, knees and feet
